An exciting opportunity has emerged within The Glasgow School of Art’s
award-winning visitor experience team. We are looking for a versatile and
experienced manager to develop our high end programme of guided tours for
cultural tourism audiences.
The successful candidate will play a leading role in the high profile
reopening of the world famous Mackintosh building at The Glasgow School of Art
in 2019, and join a supportive, ambitious team operating a successful small
business within a complex, dynamic and inspirational academic environment.
Key activities will include the practical leadership of our engaging
team of Tour Guides, management of all tour timetables and bespoke bookings,
coordination of the current programme and development of new routes and
interpretive content, and assistance in generating new business to support
growth targets.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a minimum of
2 – 3 years’ experience managing a visitor facing team, preferably within a non-traditional
setting. With strong organisational skills, a background in tour,
experience or event development and experience in sales and bookings, also
desirable would be a keen interest art, design and architecture, and a passion
for good storytelling.
