Due to growth in this area, the Glasgow School of Art requires an enthusiastic and flexible Garment Construction Technician who will enjoy the challenge of working in a creative and dynamic educational environment.   

The Fashion workshops provide specialist resources to support the creation and realisation of student work from the BA (Hons) Fashion and MDes Fashion and Textiles programmes. Working closely with the Creative Pattern Cutting Technician, the post holder will perform a key role in the interdependent development process of a garment.   

You will supervise and advise workshop users in the pursuit of innovative solutions to creative design ideas, including the demonstration of the use of machinery, equipment, materials and processes in line with health and safety practices in a busy workshop environment.   

Educated to HND level (or equivalent) in a related area, you will have a high level of skill to be able to work to an expert standard, both in accuracy and finish.  An excellent understanding of garment construction at luxury or premium brand level and the ability to share this knowledge with students is essential.
