The Glasgow School of Art is seeking a
dynamic and inspirational leader for the department of Painting and Printmaking
within the School of Fine Art. The department sits within the Undergraduate
Fine Art programme, which has three disciplinary focused areas: Painting and
Printmaking, Sculpture and Environmental Art and Fine Art Photography.
The post holder will manage the department, which has 230 undergraduate
students and 16 members of academic staff. You will also undertake an
appropriate balance of teaching, assessment, course and curriculum development
and related administration.
As a practicing artist
within the discipline, the Head of Painting and Printmaking will have an
in-depth knowledge and understanding of the current trends within contemporary Painting
and Printmaking as well as its historical contexts, and a clearly defined
vision for the future of the department and the future of the disciplinary
area.
You will be qualified to postgraduate level, or
equivalent, specialising in Fine Art.
You will have demonstrable experience of practice and research in
the domain of Fine Art Practice; and will have experience of teaching and
working with students at undergraduate level.
You will have strong leadership and interpersonal skills; and a proven ability
to manage people and resources.
